TiHo

The University of Veterinary Medicine Foundation in Hannover (TiHo) represents centuries of expertise in veterinary medicine.

Auf dem Campus der Tierärztlichen Hochschule am Bischofsholer Damm sind unter anderem die Klinik für Rinder, das Anatomische und Physiologische Institut untergebracht.

The University of Veterinary Medicine Foundation in Hannover (TiHo) is the oldest veterinary training facility in Germany, and the only independent one. It was founded as the Roß-Arzney-Schule in 1778. TiHo has been an endowed university since 2003. With its transfer to the sponsorship of a foundation under public law, the TiHo has become more autonomous and flexible.


6 clinics, 19 institutes, 3 specialties

The TiHo’s 6 clinics, 19 institutes and 3 specialties are located at two sites in Hannover. It also has three field stations at Ruthe in southern Hannover, Bakum near Vechta, and Büsum on the North Sea coast. Including PhD students, approximately 2,400 students of veterinary medicine are enrolled at the school. In addition, biology students are taught in cooperation with Leibniz University Hannover and Hannover Medical School.


Numerous research areas


The main research areas at TiHo include infection biology, clinical research, systemic neurosciences, animal health and food quality. In addition to research and teaching, TiHo also offers a wide range of services. Patient care in its six clinics plays a particularly important role. In addition, various facilities at TiHo offer pathological, biochemical, toxicological or diagnostic laboratory analyses.
