Kestner Gesellschaft: Ausstellung Nicolas Party

Since 1916 exhibitions of outstanding artists have been reflecting the international contemporary art world.

There is also a thriving forum for modernism in the kestnergesellschaft or Kestner Society. Founded in 1916 by Hanoverians as an exhibition hall for 20th century art, today it is – with almost 4000 members – among the largest and internationally best known German art associations. Banned by the Nazis in 1936, the society was re-formed with a new base in Warmbüchenstrasse in 1948. In 1997 a new home was created for it at the former Goseriede swimming-pool complex.

In its interior, five multifunctional exhibition halls offer plenty of space for works of art from the 20th and 21st centuries, which are complemented by readings, lectures, film showings, architecture workshops, concerts and drama.
