Your pictures are requested!

For the second time, the Royal Gardens of Herrenhausen are participating in the international photography competition ‘IGPOTY’ (International Garden Photographer of the Year). The competition, which is based in England, has been in existence for 13 years and always selects the world's best garden and nature photos at the beginning of February. Herrenhausen was selected last year as Germany partner. All professional and amateur photographers are invited to send in their most beautiful pictures of the Royal Gardens of Herrenhausen. The main focus should be on the Gardens. Events are not part of the competition. Last year more than 400 photos with motives from the Royal Gardens of Herrenhausen were uploaded to the IGPOTY Website.

About the competition

Every year since 2007 professional and amateur photographers are invited to be part of the international photography challenge ‘IGPOTY’ (International Garden Photographer of the Year). The best photos from the competition will be exhibited in Kew Gardens, England and other European gardens. From November on the photos will be part of an exclusive exhibition in Herrenhausen for the first time.

All pictures have to be uploaded to the webisite www.igpoty.com until October 31st, 2020. There will be no participation fee for the pictures that are part of the category „The Beauty of the Royal Gardens of Herrenhausen“. Language of the competition is english. We kindly ask you to only send in photos that are taken in the Royal Gardens of Herrenhausen. The time of creation is not important. On the IGPOTY website you can see winner pictures from previous years to get an idea of what the jury is looking for. Most of these pictures are atmospheric garden and landscape photos as well as sophisticated plant Motives.

An international jury will evaluate the photos in November/December and choose the best of the competition. The results will be announced in February 2021 and presented exclusively, at Kew Gardens near London. They will then be on display in selected gardens throughout Europe. From November on there will be an excluxive exhibition in our "open-air gallery" in the subtropical courtyard of the Berggarten.

The award-winning photos will also be published in the IGPOTY illustrated book which is distributed worldwide.

How you can participate

Go to the webiste www.igpoty.com and choose the category „The Beauty of Herrenhausen Gardens“. Then you should be able to upload your picture. Closing date for all pictures is October 31st, 2020. All winners will be announced in Feburary 2021.
