A relaxing shopping experience at Mitte (City centre): If you want to go shopping in Hannover, you can start as soon as you come out of the central station onto Ernst August Platz. On the right is the Ernst August Galerie; down the steps, one floor below ground level, is the Niki de Saint Phalle Promenade with Bahnhofstrasse above it – all inviting places for the shopper and gourmet, or for those who just wish to stroll around. And if you go straight ahead, you will come to Kröpcke, the city’s most popular meeting place. The main shopping streets meet here and Georgstrasse leads all the way to Steintor. In the Old Town you will find delightful boutiques, cafés and cosy pubs.
Meet Hannover’s ‘largest island’: Calenberger Neustadt. At the confluence of the rivers Ihme and Leine, students ‘chillax’ in hip beach clubs or on verdant embankments. A mere stone’s throw away from the historical city centre, the Calenberger Straße with its enticing shops, restaurants and snack bars is ideal for a relaxed stroll. A bedrock of Hannover’s cultural life is the WGC Theatre in the Kommandantur Straße. To the south, the Marksmen’s festival, the October festival and the Spring festival, as well as great sports and event locations, such as the HDI Arena, Swiss Life Hall and the Gilde Parkbühne (park stage) guarantee great fun and excitement.
